Hal purchased this vehicle in April of 1998. At the time, the car was completely stock with the original 326 cubic inch V-8 and 3-speed column shifting manual transmission. It had 136,000 miles on it.
Since it was purchased, Hal has replaced the 326ci V-8 with a 400ci Pontiac V-8. After many tire-spinning outings, the 400ci blew in Salt Lake City on a trip to California. After being towed the rest of the way to Cali, the Tempest received numerous upgrades -- most notably its current 463ci V-8. This latest engine was balanced and blueprinted by a notable engine builder in California; after installation, the Tempest was dyno tested to the tune of 430hp and 530lb-ft torque! Perfect for racing (and beating) Vipers.
